Zonescaping Expanded is a remastered and expanded edition of my 2014 self-released album, Zonescaping. Tracks 1-6 compose the original Zonescaping, recorded during early winter-into-spring of 2013 during a heavy seasonal depression and later released December of 2014. Track 7 was written for a label compilation that never came to be and was eventually released much later on the Avian Life compillation.
Tracks 8-15 (previously unreleased) were recorded around the same time and throughout the year of 2013. Track 16 was the physical-exclusive B-side of the original Zonescaping cassette, the "surf version" referenced in the opening monologue of "Positive Reinfocement."
Continuing the theme of Gauze I & II, most all sounds and synths are created via re-sampling my thinline telecaster through a chorus pedal directly into the DAW. I got an iPad around this time and was experimenting with re-sampling said guitar recordings through various audio processing apps and samplers. I was also very into thrifting old cassette tape recorders with built in mics and experimenting with re-amping, aka playing the sound out of my studio monitors into the tape recorder, then recording the tape back into the computer for further treatment.
This material is now 10 years old, and still very personal to me. I hope you enjoy it :)
